The concept of Croquis is simple: A live model will assume a pose for a set period of time only, and when that period is over s/he will assume another position.

These studies were in the quick end and hence they have an "unfinished" sketch-like nature. This is normal. Usually croquis time frames are 5-10 minutes but the interval may be shorter as well as longer. You will start drawing when you get the "go" signal and you must stop when you get the "shift" signal. One person is responsible for the time-keeping, and those who draw will not know how much time has passed or how much is left.

(sometimes during longer settings, say 10 minutes, the timekeeper may wish to signal eg. "one minute left", that is all up to his/her preferences)

Due to these short intervals, during a croquis session you will produce many sheets. These are those I think turned out best. As with everything else the more routine and the more training, the better your results will be.

While I am somewhat experienced in freehand drawing croquis is special and very different due to the frequent focus shifts and the insecurity about the time frame, so it's perceived as a quite difficult discipline.

I had not done croquis for four years at this time.
